So what&#8217;s the &#8220;ask&#8221;? For each UBC member to give according to what you are able to sacrifice over a two-year period. We need to rapidly do some major repairs and maintenance that our existing giving will not support, and we need to bring in more money than we plan to spend, so that we are able to cover unanticipated expenses, which always occur.</p> <p>Q2: Will the $1.5 million be used to pay off the mortgage also?</p> <p style="padding-left:40px">A2: No, it will help the church get into a position where it can pay down, and ultimately eliminate the mortgage. As discussed in Q1 above, by funding major repairs and maintenance through Campaign Higher Ground, the church is able to greater focus the funds received through tithes and offerings on normal operating expenses such as the mortgage.</p> <p>Q3: Will the Campaign Higher Ground funds be comingled with the regular tithes and offerings? </p> <p style="padding-left:40px">A3: No. The funds will be held separately and used for the purposes listed in the Higher Ground capital and operating presentation shown at the Church Meeting on June 27, 2010.</p> <p><b>Fulfilling Your Commitment</b></p> <p>Q4: What envelope do I use to make my Higher Ground payment? </p> <p style="padding-left:40px">A4: Please use theA4: Please use the Capital Stewardship envelopes that are already in your envelope box. Any further contributions received in Capital Stewardship envelopes will be counted as, and designated for, Campaign Higher Ground. </p> <p>Q5: Does my participation in "Campaign Higher Ground" replace my tithes and offerings?</p> <p style="padding-left:40px">A5: No, participation should be above and beyond Tithes and Offerings. That is, you should remain committed to giving GOD the first fruits, your tithes and offerings. Your sacrificial giving for Higher Ground should be above tithes and offerings.p>Q6: How long is the commitment and giving period?</p> <p style="padding-left:40px">A6: Two years. We pray for constant giving, but the time of the commitment is for two years.</p> <p>Q7: If my family and I give $200 per week, how much would we give in two years?</p> <p style="padding-left:40px">A7: You would give over $20,000 over the two year period of your commitment. A sheet has been provided that will help everyone get an idea of what such gifts would equal by steady sacrificial giving.</p> <p><b>Maintaining Your Commitment</b></p> <p>Q8: If I need special prayer as my family and I wrestle with our sacrificial commitment, who do I contact? Also, who do I contact for special prayer as I seek to stick to my commitment?</p> <p style="padding-left:40px">A8: Please contact our Prayer Support Committee Co-Chairs, Rev. Diane Wilson and Deacon Ronald Hemphill, and they will ensure you get the prayer support you need.
